...My ideal 1940s evening gown, that is! I found this illustration on a vintage pattern site. This would be a perfect gown to wear to my 1940s party...
I love sweetheart necklines! I would go with the rose print, or some other colorful floral print.
I love that pattern too! I've seen those in a second hand stores but never bought any because the materila has been a bit too used...
ReplyDeleteD: I think I would faint if I found one of those in a second hand store! But...material being too worn is one of those problems with authentic vintage clothing. :/
ReplyDeleteThat is the most common issue with used items: they get worn. My mums childhood home consist all sort beautiful piece of clothing but they are far too worn out and besides they have been kept in damn, old places for decades so you don't know what sort of life is in there :) Like some old jackets and coats. Also it's so hard to get the smell out of them, the smell of rotten.
ReplyDeleteEw, and mildew is a killer of nice clothes, too. My grandmother was going to give me her authentic fur coat from the 1940s...It was beautiful, with a little broach and chain that fastened it...But it had gotten too damp and was mildewed. ;-; That's why I must learn to sew, to recreate vintage clothing I want! :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress design. I wish I still had a sewing machine so I could make some cool vintage clothes. I think sweetheart necklines are really flattering on you!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you, Lisa! Sweetheart necklines are my FAVORITE. :3
